Full course description

Welcome to the Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Program! This training will cover the basics of consumer horticulture and will ultimately prepare you for communicating science-based gardening information to the public.

COURSE DESCRIPTION & GOALS: The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) program provides intensive training in horticulture to interested Ohio residents who then volunteer their time assisting with educational programs and activities for Ohio residents through their local OSU Extension county office. Volunteers are not required to have gardening skills or knowledge; a passion for learning about gardening and sharing this knowledge with others is a must!

Upon completion of the course, Master Gardener Volunteers will be able to

  1. assist horticulture staff in serving Ohio communities in the area of consumer horticulture
  2. effectively deliver research-based information from Extension to their communities
