The virtual Forages for Horses course will consist of a variety of pasture and management topics delivered through online modules, webinars and complementary resources. Participants that attend all three webinars will have the opportunity to earn a certificate of completion. Registered participants will also receive a USB drive of the traditional course by mail. The course modules cover topics on the following: - Ration formulations - Control of equine parasites - Soil and forage fertility - Forage species selection and establishment - Toxic plants and weed management - Hay quality and storage - General pasture and manure management - Economics of forages Webinars include talks and discussions with the experts and are scheduled for the following Thursdays in 2022 from 7-8:30pm: - January 20: Hay Analysis and Feeding Different Classes of Horses - February 17: Equine Nutrition and Parasites - March 17: Pasture and Weed Management, Soil Fertility, and Species Selection Cost of the course is $75 which includes a digital copy of the Forages for Horses Manual. Current and new members of the Ohio Forages and Grasslands Council are eligible for a $15 discount on registration.
